Jason Zhang is currently a senior threat researcher at SophosLabs Emerging ThreatsTeam researching characteristics of Anti-Malware to provide detection, define product and associated tools and systems. Daily work includes malware threat analysis, false positive/negative response, detection implementation as well as cutting edge research on improving malware detection accuracy and efficiency. Part of the responsibilities also includes PR story generation and paper presentation on industry leading conferences. Prior to Sophos, Jason was a malware analyst at Symantec Email Security Cloud Service and his daily work was for malware detection and associated techniques development. Jason also held positions as a geophysics researcher at ION GXT and numerical analyst at Radiation Watch before.
Apart from his professional career, Jason cares about charity and disaster/humanitarian relief. He has been a member of W. Wing Yip and Brothers Bursary (UK) Selection Committee since 2006. In 2008 he made a donation appeal for China earthquake at MessageLabs (now part of Symantec) and raised over $6000 for earthquake victims.
Jason has a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from King's College London/Cardiff University.
